If you are new to the RagaMuffin cat, forget everything you know about cats. RagaMuffins are big, fluffy, cuddly and affectionate "Teddy Bears". They have a very sweet disposition, a docile nature and are very intelligent. Their personality is more like a puppy than a cat. They are very "huggable" and love affection and attention.
Our Cattery, adult cats and kittens are registered with the ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association) and the CFA (Cat Fanciers Association).
We breed adorable RagaMuffin kittens for adoption in all of the blue eyed, pointed colors such as Seal, Blue, Torti, Blue Cream, Lynx, Red Cream as well as all of the above in aqua eyed Minks and Sepia. We also have non-color pointed, "solid color" type RagaMuffin cats for sale. All colors come with and with out white.
Our ACFA RagaMuffin cats and CFA RagaMuffin cats are dressed in plush non-matting coats. The RagaMuffin cat can grow to be quite large, the boys sometimes reaching 20 pounds or more! The sweet child-like temperament of these wonderful felines makes them an ideal companion and cherished friend. RagaMuffins need to be kept strictly indoors as their trusting nature leaves them very vulnerable. Fortunately, RagaMuffins are very content with an indoor only lifestyle... especially since it keeps them close to some of their favorite things; their food dish, their toys and the best spot on the sofa, but most of all... YOU ! ! !
RagaMuffin kittens are adopted with a contract and have age appropriate vaccinations when they go to their new homes. This breed tends to be slow to mature, so kittens are typically ready to adopt by 16 weeks of age, (12 weeks at the very earliest, but ONLY if really ready to leave). A kitten adjusts much better to a new home when they are physically as well as emotionally prepared to be separated from their mother and siblings, so "readiness" for adoption is determined kitten by kitten. Occasionally we may have adults available as well. We do not ship via air cargo but personal delivery can often be arranged.
We do not support de-clawing of cats.
We welcome your inquiries and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to email us for a "Cat Chat" as we love to communicate with fellow cat lovers! I typically might have kittens "ready to love", or soon to be ready, or perhaps some muffins still "baking"... but, if we do not happen to have a kitten available for you, we are always happy to assist you in locating a reputable breeder that does. If you would like us to contact you in the future when a kitten of your dreams becomes available, please feel free to send your wish list and we will get in touch with you when he or she arrives.
We feel very blessed to be able to share our lives with our RagaMuffin cats and RagaMuffin kittens. They are a constant source of Joy and we are thankful to have the opportunity to give them unconditional love and respect that all creatures deserve.
Difference from the Ragdoll cat: This is a question I am often asked. The RagaMuffin cat can be said to be a "cousin" to the Ragdoll cat. While they both have the same sweet, affectionate, puppy-like temperament, the RagaMuffin cat breeders elected to allow certain outcrosses to other breeds in order to insure that the gene pool was large enough to provide for the excellent health of the RagaMuffin cat. The use of the outcrosses has strengthened the health of the RagaMuffin cat as well as changed the look of the Ragauffin cat from that of the Ragdoll cat. The RagaMuffin cat has a shorter, scooped nose, while the Ragdoll cat has a gentle curve with the final segment straight. Rather than having a flat plane between the ears like the Ragdoll cat, the skull of the RagaMuffin cat is gently rounded. The RagaMuffin cat has a bit more chubby-looking face, and slightly tipped forward ears. RagaMuffin cat breeders also emphasize a sweet expression and walnut shaped eyes rather than the oval eyes seen in the Ragdoll Cat.
In addition to these differences, we choose to have our breeding RagaMuffin cats DNA tested to determine whether they carry the HCM Ragdoll gene mutation for this genetic disease that is lethal in many cats.
It is our desire to produce the greatest health in our RagaMuffin cats and RagaMuffin kittens here at LuvNMuffin.
